Positives
- ✅How you hold the ball before you start your action is just about how you make contact with the ball. This is great because you are eliminating any unnecessary chance of your ball drop to move when it is being dropped from your hand until you make contact. A perfect ball drop is absolutely still on the way down, so you are doing a great job and maximising that.
- ✅You create great separation between the ball and your body before you release it. This means you won't be cramped up and you can swing freely and with full power.
- ✅Your backswing is very extended which means you can maximise leg swing and power which is great.
- ✅You point your toe when you make contact with the ball.
- ✅You demonstrate a jump/calf raise action as you kick. This shows you are kicking up and through the ball effectively.
What you can improve
Make contact slightly higher with the ball to maximise kicking up and through it. Hold the ball longer before you drop it to help with this.
Drills that will help you
- Think to yourself — "Hold the ball as long as possible / kick the ball out of your hands". When you take your steps before you kick, practice this by slowing down your kicking action, and then thinking "plant step … then drop ball", to try and reinforce yourself to drop the ball later in your kicking action.
